Samples of Work

Introduction

Welcome. Linked here are sample units from two classes that were produced at The Savannah College of Art and Design, eLearning during 2019. eLearning is SCAD's 4th campus, including over a dozen fully online degree programs and additional courses to support foundations, liberal arts, and technical prerequisites. A full course is 10 units long. Each unit is scheduled for a full week. I work on a design team with the following roles:

  • Instructional Designer: Responsible for developing assessments and project-based activities, ensuring alignment of the course with curriculum outcomes, and final implementation of the course in Blackboard.
  • Instructional Writer: Responsible for writing most of the content sections of the course.
  • Media Designer: Responsible for implementation of the course using HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.
  • Subject Matter Expert: Faculty member responsible for communicating subject expertise.

All work is property of SCAD eLearning. Some items such as schedule dates and course catalog outcomes will not render outside of the SCAD Blackboard environment. Links will open in a new tab.

SDES 100: Realizing Your Ideas Through 3-D Printing

  • Instructional Designer: Kirk Job Sluder
  • Instructional Writer: Asli Shebe
  • Media Designer: Echo Qi
  • Subject Matter Expert: John Morris

This course was created as part of a partnership with Robo to provide incoming students with the skills needed to do prototyping through 3D modeling and printing. The overall course design consisted of three projects with progressive difficulty in the design and planning of their models. The final project for the class will be a challenge set by the teaching instructor with some constraints. Students are expected design a model to be printed in multiple parts to scale. Included is the Syllabus and Unit 7.

LEAD 725: Influencers and Innovators: Characteristics of Transformative Leadership

  • Instructional Writer: Asli Shebe
  • Media Designer: Nancy Dai
  • Subject Matter Expert: Mike Lindsey

This course serves as one of the first courses in the Creative Business Leadership M.A.. A challenge presented by this course involved helping students develop and practice leadership and emotional intelligence skills through distance education. Our solutions included:

  • Having students take leadership of class discussions online by prepping topics and moderating discussions.
  • Practice coaching sessions between students.
  • Development of personal emotional intelligence development plans.

In addition, students will explore key areas of risk management and how to assess different kinds of risk from a leadership perspective. Included is the Syllabus and Unit 2.
