In the Risk-Management in a Risk-Filled World seminar, you will be responsible for leading discussion on a risk-management topic for one unit of the course. Your instructor will assign your discussion topic at the start of the quarter. Discussion leaders will research topics in advance of the unit, prepare discussion questions, moderate discussions, and summarize the findings at the end of the unit. Discussion leadership and discussion participation will be graded separately.
In the Human-Progress Discussions, you will be responsible for leading discussion on a human-progress topic for one unit of the course. Your instructor will assign your human-progress topic at the beginning of the quarter. Discussion leaders are expected to research the topic and prepare an infographic for discussion.
For Project A, you will create a change-management plan for a creative disruptive innovation or organization. After presenting your plan to your fellow students, they will pick which plan they would “invest” in.
For Project B, you will take an emotional intelligence assessment to identify your current individual and social competencies. Then, you will create an action plan to improve and develop those competencies.
In Exercise 6, you will use your knowledge of systems thinking and systems-analysis skills to analyze a complex problem.
Unit discussions will prompt you to read current literature in the area of business leadership and to share that knowledge with your fellow students.
The quizzes in this course are designed to provide you feedback on your understanding of course readings.
A grade of incomplete may be granted to students who, during the academic term, have suffered serious personal illness or critical emergency circumstances resulting in failure to complete all assignments by the end of the quarter. Documentation from a physician is required and must be attached to the petition for a temporary grade of incomplete. Please see the college catalog for additional information.
